Can I heat my pool in an eco-friendly way?
Swimming pools can be heated by a selection of energy resources
including ground and air source heat pumps, wood pellet burners,
solar and wind turbines. However, renewable energy is only suitable
for outdoor pools, as indoor pools require dehumidification and
more sophisticated systems. The most effective and cost
efficient to heat a swimming pool is by heat pump.
Pool insulation is another way of maintaining the heat within the
pool and has the potential savings of up to 90% of the running
costs when operational. New build pools can have the
insulation incorporated at the build stage or existing liner or
concrete/tiled pool shells can be insulated when the pool is being
refurbished.
